Magic mushrooms
There are several different kinds of magic mushroom. Magic or hallucinogenic mushrooms contain psilocybin – a hallucinogen. Its chemical structure is similar to that of LSD.
Forms
These are mushrooms. They grow in the wild and are also cultivated. Be careful not to confuse them with poisonous mushrooms! They are consumed fresh or dried. They are generally sold as dried mushrooms or in the form of a capsule containing powder, usually for oral consumption.
Effects
Magic mushrooms change users' perception of their senses and reality. They cause hallucinations, extreme emotions (crying with laughter, lurching from euphoria to depression, etc.) and delirium.
Risks
Users frequently experience the following symptoms: stomachache, diarrhoea, heart palpitations and rapid breathing.
The more a person consumes, the greater the risk of poisoning or intoxication. As the effects of mushrooms are slow to kick in, the person may consume an excessive amount and end up in a medical emergency.
Dangerous combinations
Mixing different drugs is always dangerous. The effects of different substances are cumulative and amplify each other. Combinations of drugs pose a serious risk to health.
